The Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS has approved the establishment of its office in Jato Aka, Benue State to prevent irregular immigrants and suspected foreign herdsmen behind insecurity in parts of the state.
A letter written to Governor Samuel Ortom by the Comptroller-General of the Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, stated that the approval followed the Governor's request for the establishment of the NIS office in the area. Mr Babandede who commended Governor Ortom for his commitment to ending insurgency in the affected areas, assured him that the Service is making adequate arrangements to form a Special Border Patrol Squad to combat activities of illegal immigrants and herdsmen who have become a menace to society and responsible for the loss of lives and property in the state. The NIS Comptroller-General pledged the cooperation and support of the Service to the Benue State Government to enable it achieve its target of guaranteeing peace and development.
